Board votes to send layoff letters to RI teachers (AP)

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The edifice board of the state's financially troubled capital municipality has voted to beam conclusion letters to every of its nearly 2,000 teachers after municipality officials said the advise would provide them "maximum flexibility" to attain budget cuts.
State law requires edifice departments to notify teachers by March 1 if they'll be ordered off the following edifice year.
Providence teachers conventional notices of possibleness layoffs before the board met weekday night and voted 4-3 on sending conclusion letters.
